Bold and busy prints transformed into sleek everyday garments are what make an Iconic outfit stand out from the crowd. A ‘by-chance’ journey to Shanghai in 2014, following an almost 30-year career in laboratories as a microbiologist, led Martie Walker, founder and designer at Iconic, to her first roll of fabric. And well you could say the rest of the story was just ‘meant to be’. From her first order of 26 rolls in 2014 to a now staggering 1000 rolls per year, stocking almost 50 boutiques nationally, Iconic Designs has flourished into something truly special.

For Martie, her travels always inspire a search for new fabrics, and as a result the opportunity to create limited edition garments for her loyal customers. She describes herself as an ‘off the cuff’ designer who doesn’t follow any particular rules when it comes to fashion design and is always game to try something new. Typically, Iconic Designs tends towards the colourful and loud, but has also been known to venture off into cotton and linen too, creating staples for just about any wardrobe.

Iconic brings to 8th Avenue a curated selection of easy-to-wear everyday staples, from blouses to bodycon dresses. With limited edition garments, also popping up at the 8th Avenue Trunk Shows
